Michael, 58, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, passed away, following a more than two years battle with cancer, on Tuesday, 12 April 2016, at the Peggy Coloney's House of The Center For Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, NJ.

Known to most as Mike, he was a child, born 28 October 1957, of the late Benjamin T. "Tom" and Stella E. (nee Lewandowski) Wilson. He was born and raised in Seaford, Delaware, where he resided until following Seaford Senior High School, Class of 1975, graduation. Growing up and into adulthood, Mike was a very active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic parish in Seaford.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps as a Counterintelligence Officer.

He was a graduate of St. Alphonsus College, Suffield, CT, with a BA in Philosophy and Masters in Theological Studies.

In 1988 Mike wed Dottie M. David. The couple, upon marrying, merged their last names to David-Wilson. During all but a few of their married years, they were residents of New Jersey, the exceptions years having been lived in North Carolina.

Mike received professional certification in Nonprofit Management from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ. He was an accomplished and professionally recognized Certified Fundraising Executive, and a Certified Social Worker for the State of New Jersey.

He was employed in CEO and other primary executive positions during his final several years; Mike served as the Director of the AIDS Center at Hope House, then at New Jersey Community Research Initiatives as Director of Institutional Advancement, Planning and Development. He then served as the Executive Director of Middlesex County College Foundation, followed by, in NC, the Brunswick Senior Resource Inc., where he was the CEO. Lastly, Mike was the CEO of the ARC of Atlantic County (NJ). He retired from there for health reasons in 2015.

Mike was first and foremost a family man, who loved his family dearly and loved spending time with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. His hobbies included boating, fishing, scuba diving, and traveling.

His final memberships included Gilda's Club South Jersey, the Association of Fundraising Professionals International, and St. Katherine Drexel Roman Catholic Church. He was also active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 8-1 as a Boat Crew Helicopter Rescue Team member.

Mike was preceded in death by his father in 1988, his brother Franklin T. Wilson in 2009, and his mother in 2012.

He was survived by his wife of twenty-eight years Dottie of Egg Harbor Township, his daughter Dottie Krista Planeta (nee David-Wilson) and her husband Salvatore "Sal" of Manville, NJ, his grandchildren Salvatore R. and Michael L. Planeta who were both born on 24 July 2016, and his siblings Agnes Kathleen Wilson-Sypniewski of Felton, DE, Cynthia M. Kuerner and her husband George J. of Magnolia, DE, Kathleen McLaurin of Germantown, MD, and David P. Wilson of Seaford, as well as by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many relatives and friends.
