Leslie was raised in Princeton where he was a 1965 graduate of Princeton High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force serving nearly eight years from August 25, 1965 until August 1, 1973. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his service to our country, Leslie worked in several vocations in Illinois, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Missouri, and returned to Princeton in 2003. His main line of work was in the heating and air conditioning business. Besides his work, Leslie also enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, tinkering, astronomy, and was an avid reader.
Leslie is survived by his two sons, Brian O’Banion (and daughter-in-law, Vickie) of Knoxville, TN, and Leslie O’Banion of Maryville, TN; his daughter, Corina Buffalow (and son-in-law, Rusty) of Knoxville; four sisters, Dorothy Cottrell of Stanberry, Mo, Deborah McCulley (and brother-in-law, Gary) of Browning, Mo., Lita Terry (and brother-in-law, Larrie) of Gilman City, Mo., and Rita Terry (and brother-in-law, Lonnie) of Jamesport, Mo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews, and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother-in-law, Bill Cottrell.
Leslie was a member of the Ragan-Hickman American Legion Post #477 in Mercer, Missouri, the V.F.W. Post in Princeton; and the Princeton First Baptist Church.
Leslie was cremated under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton, Missouri. A memorial service will be held at a later date by his family with inurnment in the Ravanna, Missouri, Cemetery.
