Mary Katharine Kaiser, 84, of New Ulm died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Reflections at Ridgeway on 23rd .
The Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM Saturday, March 29, at First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Jo Anne Taylor officiating. A time of remembrance and lunch will immediately follow the service at the church social hall.
Mary is survived by her children: Dr. Robert (Pat) Kaiser of Spicer, Linda (John) Livers of Chaska, Ronald (Jenny) Kaiser of Linton, North Dakota, David (Darla) Kaiser of Alexandria; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Grandbouche of Loveland, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dr. Milton Kaiser; sister, Clara Giles Hall; and by a brother, Bill Giles.
Mary Katharine Giles was born September 26, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to William Jr. and Katharine (Myers) Giles. She was a graduate of Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska and the Nebraska Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska. Mary was united in marriage to Dr. Milton Kaiser August 20, 1950 in Alliance, Nebraska. After marriage they lived in St. Paul and then lived in New Ulm for 36 years. After retiring they moved to Park Rapids until returning to New Ulm several years ago. Mary was a registered nurse, a member of the National Honor Society, PEO member, New Ulm Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer, Union Hospital volunteer where she implemented the Candy Striper Program, a member the First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women’s Group and the choir and also the Park Rapids Women’s Circle. She will be remembered as a loving and caring sister, wife, mother and friend. She has been described as gracious, loving and joyous. She will be deeply missed by all.
