Christian Thede, 86, pioneer Aledo businessman and founder of the Aledo implement firm which bears the family name, died at his home in Aledo at 4 o'clock this morning of infirmities of age. He had been in failing health for several months.

Mr. Thede was born in Rock Island, Aug. 29, 1860, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian F. Thede. He came to Aledo 77 years ago and until 1911, when he retired, he was in the buggy and implement sales business in Aledo. As a businessman he was widely known in western Illinois and eastern Iowa.

He was married Nov. 7, 1888, near Viola to Miss Mary Park, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Park. They observed the 58th anniversary of their marriage last fall. Mrs. Thede is a patient now in Moline Lutheran hospital, following a fall in her home early last December. Mr. Thede was affiliated with the Presbyterian church.

Surviving are the widow; two sons, Ralph of Aledo and Park of Salem, Ore.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Sherrard funeral home in Aledo. Burial arrangements will depend on the arrival of the Oregon son.

Aledo - Funeral services for Christian Thede, pioneer businessman who died Friday morning, were held yesterday afternoon in the Sherrard funeral home, Aledo, with the Rev. Frank J. Medford of the Aledo Presbyterian church officiating. Pallbearers were E. M. Miller, N. D. Willits, Rel Stevens, Hiram Parkman, Virgil Giffin and Riley Stratton. Interment was in Aledo cemetery.
