James Cecil Jowers, 80, of Waycross died Thursday afternoon (April 7, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Waycross after an extended illness. He was born in Blackshear to the late Seals and Effie Dials Jowers Fish. Mr. Jowers loved to fish, hunt and do mechanic work when he was able. He was preceded in death by four step-children, Brenda Brown, Clayton Russell, Calvin Russell, Cary Russell, and one brother, Claude Hubert Jowers.

He is survived by a wife Myrtle Bridges Jowers of Waycross, Mike Jowers wife Cheryl of Waycross, Allen Jowers wife Faye of Waycross, Rodney Jowers wife Dana of Waycross, a step-son Cliff Russell wife Harriett of Conroe, Texas, two grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday (April 13, 2016) at 2:30p.m. at Waresboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00p.m. at the funeral home.
