LINCOLN. --- (PNS) --- Mrs. Ruth Carpenter, 74, wife of Thomas Carpenter, 1326 North Kickapoo Street, died at 6:35 a.m. Monday at St. Clara's Hospital where she had been a patient four days. The body was taken to Holland and Barry Funeral Home where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Harold W. Ford officiating. Burial will be in [Old] Union Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 5, 1874, at Crab Orchard, Ky., a daughter of James and Betty Benge. Her marriage to Mr. Carpenter took place 55 years ago in Kentucky who with two daughters, Mrs. Lillie Stout of Elkhart and Mrs. Leona Pennypacker of Maroa survive. There are four grandchildren.
A son and a daughter preceded her in death.
