Rita Beth Bentch, age 84, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012. Rita was born in San Antonio, but spent most of her life in Houston. She graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended both The University of Texas and the University of Houston. While in college, she met and married the love of her life, Joseph (Poppy) Bentch, and together they raised three children.

In addition to raising her family, Rita was very proud to have held the position of registrar for more than 25 years at the Beth Yeshurun Day School. Her organizational skills and proofreading abilities were considered legendary, and she made many lifelong friends. After retirement, Rita and Joe spent their time devoted to their grandchildren, and volunteering with various schools, organizations and especially the Fort Bend County and The Woodlands YMCAs. Rita especially was committed to the seniors programs and will be remembered as an integral part of their organizations.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents: Max and Pearl Juran; brother: Leo Juran, and loving husband of 59 years: Joseph (Poppy) Bentch. She is survived by her sister: Florence Rae Torda; her daughter, Margie, and husband, Gary Landson; sons: Lee J. Bentch and wife, Sherri, and Arty Bentch and wife, Nancy; and grandchildren: Ben Landson and wife, Colliny, Daniel Landson, Nina Russell, Gregory Bentch, Jason Bentch; four great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The South Montgomery County YMCA “Partners in Youth” Program.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery (Post Oak), 1037 North Post Oak Lane at Old Katy Road.
