Nancy Barron was born about 1791 in Wilkes County, Georgia, daughter of John Barron and Frances Garrard. In 1809, Nancy and her family moved to Jones County Georgia and settled near the family of Benjamin Callaway. Nancy and Benjamin married there in about 1809, soon after the Barrons' arrival in Jones County. Between 1818 and 1820, they moved with her brother, James Barron, and his family to central Alabama. They original settled in Dallas County, the portion that lay near the Dallas/Lowndes County line after the creation of Lowndes in 1830.

Nancy Barron Callaway died in Lowndes County in 1835, just before the Creek Indian uprising, leaving ten children who survived to adulthood.
