Marty went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 1, 2016. He was a Professor, Commercial Driving and CDL Tester at South Florida State College in Avon Park for over 15 years. He lived in Babson Park, Florida.
He was born in Clarksdale, MS, but moved to Florida with his family and started his education at Mrs. Stancil's Little Red School House Kindergarten Class. He graduated from Hardee High School where he played football, baseball, was in the school band, and went to first meat cutting class. He received his Associate degree from South Florida Junior College in Avon Park, and graduated with Honors from Webber International University in Babson Park.
He was born to the late Joseph M. Hegwood, Sr. and Mary T. Hegwood of Wauchula. He also leaves a brother Tim and sister Linda of Deltona; Uncle George and Aunt Ann Schmidt of Virginia Beach, VA; Dr. Melvin and Aunt B Hegwood of Hot Springs, AR; lots of cousins, co-workers, and friends.
Visitation will be at 6:00 PM Thursday, April 7, 2016, in the chapel of Robarts Family Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 PM. Officiating will be Pastors Ronnie Gilliard, Barry Taylor, and Tim Hegwood. Linda Hegwood will provide the music. Honorary pallbearers are George Schmidt Jr., Ronnie Gilliard, George Schmidt III, Joey Carrasio, and Jeff Bell. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.
A scholarship fund is being set up as a tribute to Marty at South Florida State College Truck Driving School, 600 W. College Dr., Avon Park, FL 33825
