William Edward Witt was born in Maywood, Illinois on May 20, 1920. His parents were Edward and Louise Hunter Witt. Mr. Witt married Dale Fairless and had 4 children, Mike, Margot, Marcia and Mark. He was a builder and developer in the Virginia Beach-Tidewater area of Virginia. King's Grant is one example of his vision and expertise. He served as president of the Tidewater Association of the NAHB. He was a brilliant visionary in a time when the building business was booming in that part of the country. In 1957-1958, he purchased Corolla on the far northeast coast of North Carolina. The ideas he had for developing this unspoiled beach were way ahead of his time. He dreamed it and his goal was to accomplish it! Sadly, he passed away in 1964, leaving Dale and two young children at home. Bill Witt left this world so young. His memorial quotes appropriate scripture from Solomon. Others later went forward and made the Corolla development their own. It is something special, as was Mr. William Edward Witt!
