Born and raised in Atlanta, MI. Basic training at Missouri in the 475th Infantry Div. Transfered to the Firefighting unit of Oklahoma when mules were no longer needed. He served with the Chinese Combat Command in China from January, 1945 to September 1945, (China-Burma-India Theater(, returned to the US on Dec. 8, 1947 and was reassigned. At retirement his rank was Sergeant, 1st Class-E7. He was stationed in Europe for much of his enlistment and a few years in Italy where he met and married Regina in 1951. They had no children.
Orlaf acquired Alzheimers a few years after he had been retired. He lived in LasVegas, Nev. at the time and was placed in one of the Army Hospitals until his death. The Army put the wrong birth date on his head stone - It reads May 5, 1928 and should be May 5, 1923. Cremated by the Army.
