Etta B. Jones was born Saturday January 27, 1934, and at 82 died March 22, 2016 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. She was a member of Philips Episcopal Church since 1976 and was on the Alter Board and is a Daughter of the King.

Etta studied at Wilberforce and Urbana University and she was a member of the Zeta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated at Wilberforce University.

She moved to Columbus from Urbana Ohio to work with the State of Ohio as a Social Worker where she retired after 27 years of service. Etta went back to school and trained as a Patient Care Aid for shut in clients and at local hospitals. Etta used her talents in the community by volunteer reading to the vision impaired for 20 years with Central Ohio Reading Service and serving on the AARP local board.

Mrs. Jones is survived by three children, Kimberly Jones, Patrick Jones (Patrick Gallaway), and Leslie Gant (John Gant); four grandchildren, Whitney Jones, Cameron Jones, Gabriela Gant, and Isabella Gant, plus Kennedy Elise Qualls, a great-granddaughter; and cousin, Charlene Briley.
