Meral Jean Adams, 83, of Athens, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016. Born in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late Noah McConnell and Annice Garner McConnell. Mrs. Adams enjoyed fishing, working with her flowers and making people laugh. She was an active member of East Athens Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Herman McConnell & Calvin McConnell.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years: William Talmadge Adams; two sons: Lamar Adams & his wife Joyce, and Gary Adams & his wife Sarah; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM at East Athens Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Wuerzer officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Allen Herron, Brian Patton, Lance Malaier, Wesley Adams, Jim Cranford & George Fortson. The East Athens Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Monday, April 4, 2016 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Athens Baptist Church Building Fund, 4325 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605. Lord & Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements
