Charles Wing Dievendorf, 58, of Hummelstown, and formerly of Anaheim Hills, CA, passed away Friday, January 21, 2005, in the Hershey Medical Center. Born in Amsterdam, NY, on September 12, 1946, he was the son of the late J. Paul and Syrena Steere Dievendorf. He was Director of Sales for Jobar International, Inc. of California. He was a 1968 graduate of the former Pennsylvania Military College (PMC), Chester, and a 1964 graduate of Canajoharie High School, Canajoharie, NY. Charlie was a US Army veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star for his service in the Vietnam War where he was a helicopter pilot. He was a life member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association; a member of the PMC Band and the college band's Museum Committee, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 23, Lebanon. He was an avid reader, loved to travel, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Charlie is survived by his wife of 31 years, Michaelann Donley Dievendorf whom he married on September 15, 1973; a sister-in-law and her husband, Maxine Donley Umberger and Randall L. Umberger of Hummelstown; a nephew and his wife, Jason D. and Teresa S. Campbell Umberger of Hershey,; a niece and her husband, Megan Umberger Robbins and Travis Robbins of San Antonio, TX; two great nieces, Alyssa S. Umberger and Leah M. Umberger both of Hershey; a great nephew, Gavin R. Robbins of San Antonio, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from New York and New England. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Dr. Emlyn H. Jones officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home Tuesday, January 25, 2005, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM and Wednesday from 10 AM until time of the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, National Council, P.O. Box 152079, Irving, TX, 75015-2079; or to the PMC Museum, c/o Development Office, Widener University, One University Place, Chester, PA 19013.
