Guion Armstrong Parotte, 96, died on April 4, 2015 at the Village of Germantown. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Louis D. Parotte, her sister, Virginia Montedonico, and her parents, Mary Keeler and Bedford Estes Armstrong.

She is survived by her three children, Virginia Parotte Williams (Henry), Jeanne Parotte McGonagill, and Louis Dixon Parotte Jr.(Sharon)

Additionally, Guion is survived by ten grandchildren, Guion Benkin (Jeremy), Katherine Burnett (Bill), Henry Williams Jr.(Amy), Ginny Crittendon (Jesse), Allen McGonagill, Dixon Allen (Jeremy), Trace McGonagill (Dana), Sarah Hunter(Trent), Jennifer Parotte, Daniel Parotte and twelve great grandchildren.

A lifelong Memphian, she was born January 15, 1920. She was named for her uncle, Guion Armstrong,, a pilot who died in action in World War I and was a member of The Memphis Gang (eighteen young Memphis men who were a core group of aviators and heroes of World War I). Her father Estes was also an aviator in this group and was injured while flying. Her great grandfather was Dr. William Armstrong, who was well known for remaining and treating Memphians in the yellow fever epidemic of 1878 until it was over . He lost his life to yellow fever.

She attended the Hutchinson School and later attended Bennett College in New York. She enjoyed memberships in the Junior League of Memphis, Les Passes and the Arawata Garden Club. She loved sewing and made many beautiful smoked clothes for her grandchildren .

She was always a joy to be around with quick wit and an infectious positive attitude and a unique ability to make people smile. She was loved by everyone who met her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

The family thanks the staff of the Village of Germantown Health Care Center for their wonderful care and compassion given to Guion.

The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Church of the Holy Communion, the Church Health Center or a charity of choice.

Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. at Church of the Holy Communion, Friday April 8, 2016. The funeral service will begin at !:00 P.M. with burial immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
