Sarah Sweet was born March 8, 1870, near Sarnia, Ont. and in 1878 came to Huron County with her parents settling near Elkton. In 1890 she was married to Menno Gabel who died July 18, 1904. In 1906 she was married to Mr. Bechtel. They came to Saginaw in 1907. She attended the Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband and seven children, Mrs. M. T. Van Benschoten, Miss Leone Bechtel, Saginaw, Mrs. Louis Martin and Charles, Cecil, and Menno Gabel, Kalamazoo, and Jack Gabel, Pittsburgh, PA, her mother, Mrs. Henry Ibberston, Owendale, one brother and one sister, Frank Sweet, Evart and Mrs. George Doty, Lagrange, Ind., seven step children and nine grandchildren.
