Larry grew up in the Clyde / Clifton area where he attended elementary, jr. and sr. high school graduating class of 1957. He graduated from Wichita State University in 1962. After graduation, Larry was in the US Navy Reserve, during the Vietnam War and worked in personnel in hospitals in Wichita.
He married Barbara Collings on June 27th, 1968. Leaving Wichita in 1974, Larry and family lived in a number of communities in Kansas including Marysville, Lincoln, Hoxie, Ellsworth, and finally Lawrence. Larry over the years, held many positions, including hospital administrator, substitute teacher, insurance sales, high school sports referee, and probably closest to his heart, farming. He was a member of Ellsworth Lions Club and Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a son Bryant Baecht and wife Carrie of Lawrence.
He was preceded in death by a son, Karl, 1971 and his wife Barbara in 1998 and one brother, Gerald Baecht.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Willoughby Cemetery, north of Agenda, KS. The Rev. Ron Lowry will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia.
