Viola was the daughter of George Washington and Annie Mariah Tyner Henderson. She was raised in Hartsville, Darlington Co., SC. She married Jasper Johnson about 1905 and had two children, Rufus and Ella Mae. Jasper was killed in an accident about 1909. Viola married George Washington Ganey about 1911. They moved to Richland Co., SC. They had four children born in Congaree, including Mary. She only lived a few weeks. By 1920, they were living in Carolina, Covington Co., AL. Four children were born there including Frank. He only lived a couple months. The family moved to Okaloosa Co., FL before 1930. Grandma Viola made vanilla cookies that were delicious. I always enjoyed visiting with her and Grandpa.
