John listed his parents birth as father born Scotland and mother born Ireland in the 1880 census. Some believe he was the John Walker age 6 found as a pauper in the Alms House in Philadelphia in 1850. I can not be sure if that is correct.

He married Cornelia Elizabeth Parker on Nov. 1, 1866 in Livingston, MO. After their marriage they moved to Decatur, Ill. where they had their first three children. The family then moved to KS where they had two more children Edna and Zulah. They came back to Ill. where they remained until the passed away and had one more child Susan.

In Cornelia's write up on her memorial the writer has mistakenly made Edna and Zulah the same person. I believe this happened because in one of the census years they were shown as one person Edna Zulah.

John and his wife seem to have been buried in unmarked graves. John was living with his son George in Oak Park when the 1910 census was taken.
