Robert E. (Bob) Lee

His family called and Robert, others called him “Bob”. He answered to both. Bob passed away on September 8, 2015 at the age of 84. He was born on February 11, 1931 to parents Howard W. and Mayleese Sullivan Lee.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Sally Hughes Lee, devoted children, son Kenneth R. Lee (Jane), of Gulf Shores, Alabama, daughter Diane Lee Ryland (Lamar) of Rocky Face Georgia, brothers James Lee (Carolyn) and Hershel Lee (Pat) all of Prattville Alabama.

Bob was preceded in death by his sister Gertie Yeargan.

He is also survived by granddaughters Rebecca and Robin Lee and grandson Romanlee (Ray) Ryland.

Bob was educated at the University of Alabama and Samford University, having received degrees from both schools. He also did postgraduate work at Rutgers University and the University of Virginia. He was employed by the Federal Reserve System for 32 years, serving in its offices in Birmingham, Nashville, and Miami Florida. He was a US military veteran, the US Air Force, having served in Korea during the height of that war. Bob was a member of the Masonic order and a long time Shriner member, strongly supporting the organization’s work with children. He was devoted and loved his flowers, having successfully grown practically every thing from Agapanthus to Zinnias. He was also an avid woodcarver and was a member of the Tannehill Woodcarvers. He had lifelong passion for man’s best friend, dogs. In his early years while growing up in Central Alabama’s Chilton County he owned and loved his mutts and mixed breeds. Shortly after his marriage to Sally they became interested in Boston Terriers and together they raised, loved, and shared their home with these little black and white pug nose, global creatures. God sure know what he was doing when he gave us flowers to brighten and beautify our own path down the road of life, and dogs to befriend us as we travel that path. Bob was an active member of the Methodist church.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Central Church in Rainbow City Alabama. The Rev. Terry Bentley, A good and dear friend, will preside at the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ Central Church in Rainbow City Alabama in his memory.
