He was the son of Ernest Peter and Jessie Isabella of 26 Banks Avenue, Great Meols, Hoylake, and of Glenlee, 21 Centurion Drive, Meols, Cheshire. Before the war Ernest worked for Parr's Bank, Chester. He was a Captain in the Cheshire Regiment, 1st/5th Battalion. He was killed in action near Arras, France, aged 30 yrs. The cause of death was a shell, and he died instantly.
