Donald C. N. MacLean, 84, formerly of Newfield or West Newfield died at his daughter's home in Litchfield, NH on March 29, 2016 after a long illness. He was born in Lake Ainsley, Cape Bretton, Nova Scotia on April 23, 1931, the son of Allen Jack and Loretta (Much) MacLean.

He was educated in local schools and grew up working on his family's farm. At a young age, Donald travelled to the United States to find work. While there, he lived with his Uncle Neil and Aunt Chris MacLean in Belmont, MA. He met and fell in love with Verna Smith and they married in 1956. Donald served proudly for two years in the U.S. Army.

Donnie moved his family from Billerica, MA to Newfield, ME in 1967 where he worked hard as a carpenter all his life to support his family. His specialty was woodworking and historical restoration.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Verna (Smith) MacLean.

Surviving are his siblings, Jesse MacDonald and husband Charles of Cape Bretton, Nova Scotia; and DJ MacLean and wife Cathy of Cape Bretton, Nova Scotia; and Catherine Campbell and husband John of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia; his children, Eric MacLean and wife Lorraine of Newfield, ME; Neil MacLean of Brownville, ME; Donna DeLuca and husband Bob of Salem, MA and Heather Brenchick of Litchfield, NH; also ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends are invited to call on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak St., in Alfred.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 10:00 AM. at the West Newfield Congregational Church, 1078 Maplewood Road, West Newfield.

Committal Prayers and burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Newfield

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Healthy at Home, Attn: Donna Collins, 45 High Street, Nashua, NH 03060.

Everyone is cordially invited to the Peppermill Restaurant, 171 Washington St. in Limerick to share a luncheon with the family.
