Thomas Harrison Evitt, 83, of Crossville, passed away March 26, 2016. He was born Sept. 23, 1932, in Bledsoe County, TN, son of the late John and Amanda Elizabeth Tollett Evitt.
He was retired from the Cumberland County Community Complex where he worked as manager for many years and was a member of Bible Missionary Church. He was also very active in the community having been a founding member of Good Samaritans and serving several terms on the Cumberland County School Board where he was instrumental in the start of the Phoenix School. He loved the outdoors and gardening. He was also a huge racing fan, but most important of all was his family who he loved greatly.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Evitt of Crossville; daughter, Mitzi Jane Evitt of Crossville; grandchildren, Thomas Evitt Smith and his wife, Brittany, and Alexander Bryce Barret; great granddaughter, Katelyn Evitt Smith; and sister, Betty Limbaugh of Chattanooga, TN.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Hood Funeral Home. The family received friends prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial was in Tollett Cemetery.
