A funeral Mass for Edward William John Benekritis of Bellingham will be celebrated at 11 am Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Morelli officiating. Burial will be in Ten Mile Cemetery. Mr. Benekritis of 912 34th St died Friday, Jan 20, 1995, in Vancouver, BC. He was 77.
Born April 14, 1917, to Vincent William and Nellie Pilota Benekritis in Shand, Saskatchewan, Canada, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II.
Mr. Benekritis moved to Bellingham in 1983. He was a member of Sacred Hearth Catholic Church. He was a ham radio operator, and his call letters were VE6BPA.
Survivors include sons David Benekritis and John Benekritis, both of Bellingham, and Tom Benekritis of Ontario, Canada; daughter Alexandra Brands of Bellingham; sisters Victoria Gilbert and Olga Jensen, both of Vancouver, BC; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Jerns-LeVeck Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
