He married Emmatine Arilla Corbin Dec. 6, 1881 in Mo. They had at least ten children.

******************************************

James T. Smart was born July 16, 1856, and passed away at his home near Bendavis, April 23, 1936, making his age at time of death 79 years, 9 months and 7 days.

He was united in marriage to Emma Corbin December 6, 1881, and for 51 years they went side by side through the toils of life together until September 17, 1932, God in His love and tender mercy, called his good wife home to Glory.

To this union eleven children were born, three of whom preceded him in death. Uncle Jim, as he was called by all, gave his heart and life to God last October, 1935, and united with the Church of Christ. He lived a faithful life for God, until death did claim him. His last words were, "Going to Jesus."

He was only sick a short time with pneumonia. All was done for him that loved ones and kind friends could do but we know that God doeth all things well.

He leaves to mourn his going five sons and three daughters; all were at his bedside except one, Mrs. Anna Adams of Sioux City, Iowa, whose health would not permit her coming.

His children, Charles Smart, Donald Smart, Will Smart, Frank Smart, and Nelson Smart, all of Huggins; Anna Adams of Sioux City, Iowa; Cora E. Woods of Kansas City, Missouri, and Minnie Baney, of Mountain Grove, a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and a large circle of friends who will miss this dear, loving father and friend. Yes, Uncle Jim was a good friend to all who knew him, always had a good thought and a kind word for everyone. Now to and living a Christian life, live for God.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Young at the Rock Spring church and his body was laid to rest in the Rock Spring cemetery.

Peaceful be thy silent slumber,
In thy grave so cold and low;
Thou no more shall join our number,
Thou no more our sorrows know.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When our journey here is o'er,
And with you and loving mother,
We can be forever more.
Precious father, how we'll miss you,
From this world of grief and woe;
But we would not call you back here,
To suffer in this world below.
We know, dear father, you'll be happy,
As we join you one by one,
For we know that you are waiting,
For your children to come home.
