Joseph Layton Alder
July 25, 1931 - March 23, 2016

Joseph Layton Alder was born July 25, 1931 in Safford to Raymond and Angeline Alder. He passed away March 23, 2016 at the age of 84 at his home in Pima.

He attended 12 years of school at Pima and also attended Eastern Arizona Junior College and Arizona State University. On January 26, 1952, he married the love of his life, Evelyn Mattice in the Mesa Arizona Temple. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving faithfully in many callings throughout his life including Bishop of Pima 2nd Ward.

Joe and Evelyn loved serving in the Mesa Arizona Temple for over 10 years. He and Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed supporting and traveling to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's athletic, church and school activities. Joe spent many hours working on their ranches side by side with his wife and family.

He is survived by his son Scott (Joyce Larsen) Alder, of Pima, daughters, Jann (Ric) Lines of Snowflake and Jane (Daryl) Seymore of Show Low, 12 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, parents, Ray and Angie Alder and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Joe will be held Saturday, March 26, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pima LDS Stake Center, 341 West 450 South, Pima, AZ with visitation Friday evening from 6—8 p.m. and an hour before services begin.

Interment will be in the Pima Cemetery.
