Glenola (Whitehead) Alexander of Katy, Texas passed from this world into her heavenly home on March 24, 2016. She was born in Lovelady, Texas on January 4, 1931 to Gus Whitehead and Lucy (Free) Whitehead.

She married Earnest Talmedge Alexander at North Central Baptist Church, Houston, Texas on July 10, 1948. Glenola enjoyed many things in her life but her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed family gatherings, tending her plants and flowers, traveling and spending time at the beach.

Glenola is preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Lucy Whitehead; her in-laws, Jefferson and Magdalene Alexander; son-in-law, Gerald Wells; brother, John Ed Whitehead; great-grandson, David Brinkmeyer; sisters-in-law, Christine Keels, Florine Jones, Katherine Wheless, Margaret Lowe; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Keller and Pete Wheless.

Glenola is survived by her husband of over 68 years, Earnest; daughters, Diane Alexander and Beverly Kay Brinkmeyer and husband, Gene; grandchildren, Michael Wells and wife, Lisa, Jeremy Wells and wife, Barbara, Timothy Brinkmeyer and wife, Mischa and Kasey Brinkmeyer; great-grandchildren, Morgan Wells, Anna Wells, Vivian Wells, John Wells and William Brinkmeyer; sister, Anna Jeannette Keller; sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean Whitehead, Mary Ann Gaston, Alice Faye Bates; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Lowe and Herman Bates; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her grandsons, Michael Wells, Jeremy Wells and Timothy Brinkmeyer will honor her in serving as pallbearers along with son-in-law, Gene Brinkmeyer, nephew, Clay Keller and great-nephew, Zachary Keller. Her granddaughter, Kasey Brinkmeyer, will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Viewing and visitation with the family will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 from5-7 pm at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Rd., Houston, Texas 77065. Services will follow beginning at 7 pm.

The Committal Service will be held at noon on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Old Home Cemetery, Center, Shelby County, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made to The Lighthouse of Houston or charity of your choice.
