David was born on April 6, 1951 in Jonesboro to the late Uel and Elizabeth Smith. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1969 and Arkansas State University Jonesboro in 1973, where he played basketball. He was currently working for Excel in Spring Hill. He had previously worked as a manager for Maytag Corporation in Searcy for 32 years where he had made lifelong friends.
David is survived by his wife, Rachel Perdue Smith; his daughter, Lindsey Smith Snyder; grandson, Quinton Cooper Snyder; a brother, Donnie (Mona) Smith; a niece, Megan (Michael) Crutchfield; nephews, Robert (Talon) Smith and Stephen Smith; mother-in-law, Laveda Perdue and a host of friends.
David and Rachel loved to travel and had visited many places, but his favorite place to be was with his loving family – especially spending time with his grandson, Quinton. He was a faithful member of Spring Meadows Church of Christ in Spring Hill, TN and had previously been a member of College Church of Christ in Searcy, AR for 28 years.
A funeral is scheduled for 2pm on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Antioch Church of Christ in Spearsville, LA with Chris Barnhill officiating. Internment will follow at Antioch Cemetery by Young's Funeral Directors.
