Philip Richard Snyder, 89, of Missouri City, TX., passed away Saturday, March 26th of congestive heart failure, attended by his wife of 45 years, Dianne Garner Snyder.
Snyder was born to Isadore and Cecelia Snyder in Rochester, New York, on January 11, 1927. He earned a BA in Speech from the University of Michigan and a MA in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University, and served in the United States Air Force.
Snyder began his post-military career at KXYZ-FM where he discovered his talent for advertising, marketing and public relations. From the early 1950s on, he managed major accounts such as Sears locally and later Foley's Department stores where he worked for one of Houston's leading advertising agencies, and later on opened his own firm. The Snyder Agency represented long-time clients including Bill Walker Clothier and Hobas Pipe until shortly before Snyder entered home Hospice care in February.
Snyder was preceded in death by his parents and sister Adelaide Ruth Snyder. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother-in-law Carl O. Garner Jr. and wife Lavonna Garner, nieces Florence Snyder of Tallahassee, FL; Colleen Uriarte & Holly Murski of Houston, TX; plus, great nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.
