By about 1925, Ruth was adopted and raised by Charles Preston Callahan and his wife Hannah Ivah Bending who lived in Richwood, Union County, Ohio. Charles and Ivah changed her name to Norma Ruth Callahan.
She graduated from Richwood High School in 1937. On March 19, 1938, she married Adelbert Orville Thomas in Richwood, Union County, Ohio. They divorced on January 20, 1948.
Ruth married her 2nd husband, Francis Alexander Harris, who died in 1994.
On December 19, 2003, Ruth married James J. Mimicou who survives her.
Ruth died on January 05, 2014, of a heart attack, in the hospital at West Chester, Butler County, Ohio. She was buried beside Francis Harris at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
