Born 7/31/1850 in Alabama. Son of Joe Hurt (b. Ga) and Lucy Apperson Long (b. Ga). Married to Annie Bright Woodruff.
Mr. Hurt surveyed the Southern Route for the Santa Fe (route 66 later) from Albuquerque to Needles, CA, and also developed Atlanta's first trolley system.
Aged 75 years, 5 months, 8 days. Died 1/9/1925 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia and is buried at Oakland Cemetery. The copy of his death certificate reads he died of cystitis and toxic absorption.
