Note that this death certificate and that of the spouse show the surname spelled Bryans. Although there are 136 Bryan names in Lancaster County on Findagrave, there are no Bryans. Even though the surname Bryans can be found ex-Lancaster County, none of the Bainbridge group used Bryans in any of the obituaries found or in census citations. It's is always Bryan. Although there are some quirky things about a few death certificates, it is believed that the true surname for this group at the Bainbridge cemetery is Bryan.Mrs. Emma Bryans, seventy-nine, died at the home of her son, Clarence Bryans, Bainbridge, at 6 o'clock, this morning, of a complication of diseases, after an illness of ten days. She was the widow of Samuel Bryans, deceased since 1925. She is survived by the following children: William of Bainbridge RD1; Clarence, of Bainbridge, with whom she resides; Edna, wife of Elias Byerly, of Millersville, Ohio; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. (Lancaster New Era - Jan 31, 1941)
