John C. Whittingto, 68, of 281 S. Galloway St., a lifelong Greene Countian, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at Greene Memorial Hospital. He had been taken there by Xenia firemen Monday morning from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Given Walls, 259 California St.

Mr. Whittington was born Oct. 8, 1901, and was employed by Dayton Power & Light Co. several years, and later by Mendenhall Construction Co.

He was married to the former Alice Grooms, and she preceded him in death November, 1951. He also was preceded in death by a brother and half-sister. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include three step-children, Raymond and Harold Grooms of Xenia and Mrs. Margaret Morgan of Piqua, and a number of grandchildren.

Services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., where friends may call 7-0 p.m. Thursday. Internment will be in Woodland Cemetery.
