ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mrs. Mary Luella Kennington Simpson of 159 Sedgewood Drive was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at Edgemoor A.R.P. Church. The Rev. Allen Derrick and the Rev. Danny Hedgepath officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Simpson, 98, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Ebenezer Senior Services.

Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late John Samuel Kennington and Docia Mae Catoe. A member of Edgemoor A.R.P. Church, where she was a former choir member and Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Simpson belonged to the Eastern Star-Richburg Chapter, the Family and Community Clemson Club and Women of the Church. She was also a member of the South Carolina Association of Nurses.

Survivors include three sons, Mills B. Simpson Jr. of Edgemoor, Francis C. Simpson of Leslie and James "Jim" Simpson of Chester; a daughter, Martha S. Waldrop of Edgemoor; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband, Mills Bigham Simpson Sr.
