Derek S. Allen, 31, passed away suddenly at his home on March 13, 2016. Born in Newburyport on May 14, 1984, Derek was the son of Stephanie M. Allen of Salisbury and Dominic N. Commesso of Hingham, Mass. Derek’s disability prevented fulltime employment, however it never kept him from enjoying life! Derek’s interests included: spending time with his children, family and friends. Music and dancing were a big part of his life, as well as, going to the gym and playing the card game 45 with friends. He found great enjoyment riding his dirt bikes and being around cars. Everyone will miss Derek’s infectious smile that lit up the room, and that those around him found so reassuring. Derek is survived by his children, Destiny Allen and her mother Amanda Doiron of Danvers, Joseph Allen and his mother Katie Dragon of Rochester, NH; mother, Stephanie Mae Allen of Salisbury; grandmother, Sheila Allen of Salisbury; brother, Dane Allen Kinney and his fiancé Nicole Lombard with their son Brayden Kinney of Danvers, and the man Derek called “Dad”, Jason Kinney and his partner Lynn Gaouette of Amesbury. There will be A Celebration of Life for Derek on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Sea Glass, 4 Front Street in North Salisbury, Mass, for all family and friends to celebrate Derek's life. The arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill will be private. Interment at Maplewood North Parish Cemetery.
