CITY SHOCKED BY DEATH OF MR. HERMES A. FREDERIC.

Pascagoula was shocked and grieved last Saturday morning by the sudden death of Mr. Hermes A. Frederic, member of one of Pascagoula's largest and most prominent families, who died at his home in Market street at 8 o'clock from an attack of acute indigestion. Mr. Frederic had not been well and had remained in his bed longer than was his custom. His wife found him in a stupor, and went to summon a physician, but he died before medical aid could be administered.
The funeral was conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the residence of his sister, Mrs. M. L. Pol, in Jackson avenue, with services at Our Lady of Victories Catholic church and Rev. Father B. O'Reilly officiating. One of the largest crowds ever to attend a funeral in this city gathered at the home and church, and later at the Catholic cemetery where interment was made under the beautiful ritual of the Elks lodge, members of Pascagoula Lodge attending in a body and carrying out their ritualistic work.
Mr. Frederic was 29 years, 10 months and 26 days old. He was married, and is survived by his wife and five small children, besides his mother, grandmother, five brothers, four sisters and a large number of other relatives. For many years he had been a member of the Elks Lodge and Pascagoula Central Fire Company, taking a great interest in the activities of these organizations and always ready to do more than his part in promoting plans for civic welfare.
Members of his immediate family, besides his wife and children, are his grandmother, Mrs. J. W. Westphal mother, Mrs. S. P. Frederic; sisters, Mrs. M. L. Pol, Mrs. E. J. Jane, Mrs. J.T. Stephens and Mrs P. W. Cox, all of Pascagoula; Mr. S. H. Frederic, C. E. Frederic, W. E. Frederic and F. J. Frederic, all of Pascagoula, and Mr. H. E. Frederic of Bogalusa, La. To these and to the other relatives and large number friends the Chronicle-Star extends deepest sympathy.

Buried in the Washington Frederic Tomb.
