Mr. Maloy served our country in the US Army during WWII. He was captured and held as a prisoner of war for 3 1/2 years. He survived the Bataan Death March and was carried to Japan on a death ship. While in Japan he worked in the steel mills and survived on a diet of rice, bamboo shoots and silk worms.
He was retired fron Kraft Foods. Mr. Maloy was an avid gardener and grew the best tomatoes anywhere around, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by children, Gwinetta and Jimmy Ogletree, Stanley and Paula Maloy and Pam and Ealy Barfield; grandchildren, Keith Carroll, Danny Barfield, Beth Drennan, Brett Barfield, Megan Maloy, Patrick Maloy and Mallorie Maloy; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to Patty Stewart for her special care and love for their dad during his illness.
The funeral service for Mr. Maloy will be held at 2PM in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home, Wed, April 4, 2007 with Rev. Reese Sanders and Rev. Tommy Wilborn officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Zion Baptist Church. Wheeler Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
