A carpenter at several motion picture studios before World War II; a Chief Petty Officer in the U. S. Navy Construction Battalions (Seabees) during World War II, in the South Pacific; a general building contractor, real estate broker, and developer; licensed pilot, flying his own planes for business and pleasure, piloting his family over much of the United States; served on the Rancho Mirage citizens' advisory committee; a city councilman from 1982 to 1986, mayor-pro tem, and Mayor, from 1984 to 1986; active member of the Palm Springs Masonic Lodge, Al Malaikah Shrine, and the Royal Order of Jesters.
