John's obit. states: Funeral services will be conducted at the Church of God in Equality tomorrow afternoon for John Allen, 77 who passed away at eight o'clock last night at his home near Wolf Creek. Mr. Allen was a widower, his wife, Nettie Allen, having passed away several years ago. Surviving are eleven children and two sisters. Rev. Jeff Milligan will conduct the rites at 2 o'clock and interment will follow at Elmwood cemetery, Equality.

John's funeral was handled by Martin Funeral Home, located in Saline County, Illinois.
There was a general from the civil war with the name John A. Logan from Murphysboro, Illinois.
