He was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. Retired from SCM Glidco, Jacksonville, FL, after 32 years of service. Al served 23 years with the Air National Guard and retired as a Master Sargent. He was a 50+ year mason of Riverview Lodge #306 Jacksonville, FL, Past Master of New Providence Lodge #128 Maryville, TN, and member of Chota Lodge #253 Concord, TN. He was a 1958 graduate of Porter High School.
Preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Barbara Turner Kirby; his parents, Oscar and Treva Kirby; brothers, Howard and George Kirby; 3 nephews.
Survived by sister-in-law, Ella Kirby; special friends, Albert and Addie Pons, Nelson Whaley, Fern Williams; nephews, niece, many cousins, classmates, and lodge brothers.
Masonic and Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, in the Dotson Wildwood Chapel. Interment will follow in Oak View Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Dotson Funeral Home.
