Esper Allen Burghardt, Age 62 of Canby, Oregon passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at his home in Canby.

Allen was born on September 15, 1953, in Bossier City, Louisiana, to James William Burgardt Sr. and Sylvia Sidney Burghardt (Fielder).

Allen graduated from Roseburg High School in 1971. Shortly after high school, Allen joined the U.S. Air Force and spent seven years traveling the world.

On June 17, 1973, Allen married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Lynn Jones. Allen and Kathy had three beautiful children, all whom were raised in Roseburg. Allen owned and operated two businesses in Roseburg: Burghardts Lawn and Landscaping and Homes by Esper. In 2008, Allen retired and relocated to Hillsboro, OR, to live closer to his children.

Allen is survived by his significant other Sophia Mundis and their beloved pet Ritchie of Canby; mother Mary Lou Logan of Alabama; brother James Burghardt Jr. and family of Colorado; son Kevin Burghardt and family of Oregon City; daughter Cheryl Lightner and family of McKinney, Texas; daughter Tiffany Osborne and family of Hillsboro; and step-son Jesse Workman of Roseburg.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, James William Burghardt Sr. and Sylvia Sidney Burghardt.

Allen was known for his sense of humor and his compassion that he showed for others. Allen loved his family dearly. Allen will never be forgotten. We can smile knowing that he’s singing random karaoke songs in Heaven with God and he is free from pain.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, OR, 97086.
