Frederick S. Adams, Sr., 77, died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Pruitt Health Care Neuse. He was born October 25, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Jonathan C. and Thelma Reynolds Adams.
He retired as Gy/Sgt from the U. S. Marine Corps after 20 years, and worked at Moen for 22 years. He coached Little League Baseball for 25 years, and was a member of Fleet Reserve Association, VFW, and American Legion. He was also a member of Community Baptist Church in Newport.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Charlotte L. Adams, two sons, Frederick “Chip” S. Adams, Jr. and wife Lynne and W. Russell Adams and wife, Laure all of Wilmington; one sister, Deborah L. Adams of Kinston; and three granddaughters, Whitney M. Adams, Kaitlyn G. Adams, and Shannon F. Adams.
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Pollock-Best Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Knox and Rev. William Boyd Stroud officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Amariah-Garner Cemetery in Newport. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, just prior to the funeral.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory of a charity of choice.
