Born on May 23, 1919, Sara Virginia Harpole was the daughter of Martin Van Buren and Dorothy Drane (Johnye) Harpole. She lived all her life and attended school in Winona. As a teen she assisted her sister in teaching dancing classes. She was well known for her singing talent. Accompanied by her mother, she would ride the train to Memphis and sing at the Peabody Hotel with some of the big name bands of the day. At the age of 19, she won first place in State Amateur Contest held in Biloxi, Mississippi.

"Toots", as she was nicknamed in her younger days, married her sweetheart, James E. "Bill" Brannon. They were married for 22 years until his death in 1960. Later, she married Percy Hill "Billy" Money. They were married for 17 years.

Sara ("Gangi", as she affectionately became known by her grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends) loved the Lord and depended on Him every day. She was a faithful member of Moore Memorial Methodist Church and served as secretary of her Sunday School Class - the Volunteer Bible Class.

On March 20, 2016, she left her earthly home of almost 97 years and entered her heavenly home.

Mrs. Money was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a brother, Colonel Van Harpole; a sister, Elizabeth H. Bowen; and her son-in-law, Kenneth
W. Powell.

She leaves behind her dearly loved family to cherish her memory: her daughter, Beth Brannon Powell; two grandchildren, Rebecca Virginia "Ginger" Perry (Robert) and Kenneth Patrick Powell (Elizabeth); and three great-grandchildren, Robert Moore Perry Jr., Erin Virginia Perry, and Everly Kate Powell.

Memorial contributions may be made to Moore Memorial United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 467, Winona, MS 38967.
