Manford Beckett 87 of Lewisburg passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Meadowview Reginal Hospital. He died from a broken heart after the love of his life, Virgie passed away February 8, 2016. He was born in Fleming County to Otha and Myrtle Smally Beckett on June 23, 1928. He retired from Browning where he worked for 34 years. Manford served in the US Army- Tropical Lightning Division as an MP. He was a long time member of the Lewisburg/Mill Creek Lions Club and ran the gym for area ball players. He also was responsible for starting the gym walkers program for the community to come and walk and socialize. His dedication to the Lions Club and the gym got him recognized by holding an upcoming 5K run/walk on March 26, that was named to honor him. He loved his family and friends and if he thought a lot of you he would always call you "ugly" as a term of endearment. He is survived by his only son, Brian (Danielle) Beckett, and daughters Charlotte (Eddie) Lucas, Loretta (Jackie) Howell, Debbie (John) Mattingly, Barbie (Jack) Davis, and Patti (Kevin) Clark. He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, special neighbors Junice Foster, nephew, Jerry Bridges, niece Shevy Jean Robinson, and a sister-in-law Jenny Beckett. Besides his wife and his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers: Pern, Claiton "Buck" and Doug, sisters Virgie and Wilma and also brother-in-laws Dale and Nick. Services for Mr. Beckett will be Saturday, March 19, 2016, 11AM at the Knox and Funeral Home with Pastor Arnold Howell officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Clark, Jack Davis, John Mattingly, Jackie Howell, Jeremy Lucas and Matt Rushmeyer. Visitation will be Friday, March 18, 2016, 5-7PM at the funeral home. In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the Lewisburg-Millcreek Lions Club, 100 Terra Drive, Ewing, KY 41039
