Chuck lived most of his life in Earlham, Iowa. Chuck co-owned and operated the Sinclair Service Station in Dexter from 1959-1961. He retired from the Super Valu Warehouse in 1989. Chuck enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, his many trips to Alaska, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Chuck was especially fond of nature. He loved walking through the woods and enjoying its beauty, stopping to pick fresh mushrooms each spring. Chuck was active in the community. He served on the Earlham City Council and was a "Multi-Gallon" blood donor. Chuck enjoyed his garden, especially growing his own "Jurgensen Jumbo Popcorn". Chuck and Meriam traveled many places but they enjoyed their trips to Hawaii and Acapulco the most. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Meriam in 1995, son Kevin, brother Dan Jurgensen, sister Joan Brooker, and sister Ida Mapes.
Chuck is survived by: son Craig Jurgensen (Becki) of Austin, MN; daughter Kathi Jurgensen of Encinitas, CA; daughter Kay "Kasey" Jurgensen (Howard Pewitt) of Iowa City; son Kent Jurgensen (Leslie) of Johnston; daughter Kristin Usherwood (Glen) of San Antonio, TX; sister Irene Houghtaling of Indianola; sister Louise Wells (Roy) of LaGrande, OR; brother Bill Jurgensen (Margaret) of Winterset; sister Lucy Clark (Herman) of Altoona; brother Robert Jurgensen (Gracie) of LaGrande, OR; sister Patsy Radtke (Dennis) of Randolph, WI; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
