Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Crestwood Cemetery for Janie Genevieve Abel Scott, 84, East Gadsden, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mrs. Scott was a 1943 graduate of Glencoe High School, graduating as salutatorian of her class, and was the first drum majorette. She and her late husband, Joe R. Scott, owned and operated Scott Sales, and she was a member of East Walnut Baptist Church.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband; son, Joey Scott; parents, Ott and Lottie Abel; and brothers, Fred (Marie) Harris and Bill Abel Sr.
She is survived by her nephews, Bill (Kay) Abel Jr., Ronald Harris and Greg (Martha) Abel; niece, Regina (Terry) Locklear; sister-in-law, Lucile Abel; special cousin, Joyce "Tootsie" Fox; chosen family, Tom, Dinah, Ivan and Colleen Nail; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
