CLEVELAND - A wonderful mother is no longer in pain. Gudney Svava Johnson Anderson, age 89, passed away on Sept. 11, 2003.
Svava was born Nov. 24, 1913 in Cleveland to Jonena Friedsemd Agresmdottir Johnson and Halldor Johnson. She married Kenneth D. Anderson on Jan. 11, 1936 in Price and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple April 24, 1964.
Svava was a loving mother to Shirnena (Sherry), Kenneth Bert (Buddy), Rodger Kit and Larry Kurt and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom was fluent in both English and Icelandic history and customs. She liked to travel and made two trips to Iceland to visit relatives and to work on genealogy. She was able to trace the one side back to Leif Erikson. She remained very close to the relatives in Iceland. She loved people and was great at building new relationships. Mom was involved in many crafts and created wonderful items. She was an avid quilter and created quilts of exceptional beauty for family and friends. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by children, Sherry (George) Davis of Jamul, Calif.; Kit Anderson of Cleveland; Larry Kurt Anderson of Jamul, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Adonna Johnson of Bicknell. Also nine grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth; son, "Buddy"; one brother, Englebert Johnson, Bicknell; and one sister, Laufay Johnson Clark of Jamul, Calif. Mom, eg elskhugi y.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 17, 11 a.m., at the Cleveland LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16, 7 to 9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and also one hour prior to services at the church. Burial, Cleveland City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
