James N. Prothero, 65, a former Modestan, died at Oroville on Friday, according to word received here. He was the father of Mrs. Elsie P. Fear, Mrs. Aimee P. Slichler (sic) and Mrs. Effie P. Olson, the brother of Mrs. Lena Casta and Mrs. Katherine Sparr. Funeral services will be held at the Maheely (sic) Chapel, San Francisco, on Tuesday at 1:30 pm.
