She was the daughter of Walter and Edith (Burkhart) Kettler. On Feb 8, 1942, at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, St. Marys, she married Carl Hecht, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons: Dr. Ralph (Susan), Celina, Dennis (Deborah), Rockford, and Kermit (Alana), St. Marys; three daughters: Judith Sampson, Van Wert, Merrilee (Michael) Kleinhenz, St. Marys, and Linda (Scott) Gephart, Covington; a sister-in-law, Roberta Kettler, Novato, CA; and twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren and a step great-grandchild.
Deceased are a brother, Walter; a sister-in-law, Esther Hecht; and a grandson, Gregory Hecht.
A 1939 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, she was a homemaker and farm wife who loved spending time with her family, attending their sporting and social events. She will be remembered as a very kind and appreciative woman, and as someone who gave her children every opportunity to succeed. She enjoyed crocheting, and made afghans for all her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys.
Funeral rites will be at Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, with the Rev. Bill Maki officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
