Jim D. Malcom, veteran of the United States Marine Corp and longtime resident of Bernalillo, NM, went to be with the Lord Tuesday March 1, 2016.

Jim was born October 3, 1936 in Denver, Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his first wife of almost 46 years – Tommy Lou Malcom;
his grandson, Russel Shane Maez; and his sister Barbara Walkup.

He is survived by his wife of two years, Edie Hires; daughters Dalene Murrietta and husband Ray of Gilbert, AZ and Debbie DeFazio and husband Vinnie of Sandia Park, NM; son Russel Malcom and wife Ella of Edgewood, NM; step-daughters Bonnie Sanchez and husband Anthony and Brenda Daneshi and husband Sam; eight grandchildren, one step-grandchild and four great-grandchildren.

Jim retired as a union iron worker and was a significant part of building in Albuquerque, areas across New Mexico, and other states – he was awarded superintendent of the year multiple times. As an active member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Bernalillo, he played a big part in the food pantry.

Throughout his life, Jim was an avid hunter, but his passion was fishing. In more recent years, he enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. The highlight of his year was seeing his favorite team – the Denver Broncos – win the Super Bowl.
Jim will be remembered for his kind compassion for others and his strong love for God. He will be missed by all.


Services Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Bernalillo, 800 Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM 87004.

Burial at Regina Cemetery in Regina, New Mexico
